About

I know nothing about farming. Being a city slicker for all of my 47 years of existence, I have mastered life in this urban jungle called Metro Manila. I manage to get to my destination using my navigation app on my mobile phone to avoid traffic while staying clear of clunky jeepneys and taxis driven by aspiring NASCAR drivers. When hungry, I reach for the nearest phone and dial 8-7000 and about 30 minutes later, a man comes to hand me two crispy fried chicken with rice and a styrofoam plate of spaghetti from Jollibee (unpaid product placement). For entertainment, I flip through hundreds of channels on TV showing local and American programs on my big screen LED TV attached to my surround sound system which promises realism in all respects. Everything is easy, comfortable and available without every getting out of the couch.

I know a lot about technology, computers, the Internet, mobile apps, telecom and broadcast systems but nothing about raising pigs, growing vegetables nor producing food. And yet, I have just answered a call from deep within me to buy a small farm in Central Luzon and grow our own food. Why? That is the subject of my first few blog entries.

Oh, let me be clear. You will learn nothing by reading my blog. Except maybe lessons in farming that I myself will learn and blog about. I will not teach you anything about farming because I know nothing. But do read on because this might turn out to be one heck of a story!
